The tiny village of Solitaire is located on the edge of the Namib-Naukluft National Park, about 70 km north of Sesriem, (which is the entrance to the dunes of Sossusvlei.)

It has a service station with fuel and tyre repair facilities, campsites with electricity, hot showers and flush toilets, swimming pool, restaurant and well stocked kiosk.

The bakery at Solitaire was made famous for its huge Apple Pie servings by the late Moose McGregor, and now offer an range of bread, pies and sweet bakes with coffee and tea for the visitor.
