Botswana is a famous wildlife destination with most of its National Parks and Game Reserves in the north of the country. As you would notice from the Botswana map, there are not that many tarred roads to the various points of interests for tourists.
Botswana has always concentrated over the years on quality tourism, and most lodges and prime destinations are in private concession areas. Most of these luxury lodges could only be reached by small plane or through an tour operator. Most safaris in Botswana depart either from Maun, Chobe (Kasane), but there are various overland safaris departing from both Namibia, South Africa and Victoria Falls, that has various destinations in Botswana on their itineraries (Chobe, Okavango Delta and Makgadikgadi Pans).
